"i put on a very thin line on upper eye area within a 1/2 hr i looked like i had 2 black eyes. all the liner was under my eyes smudged up looking and it was a mess so what went wrong? its sure not smudge proof"

Love the eyeliner but hate how it sharpens

"I love the liner but the pencil does not sharpen well. The liner part does not get sharp (too soft) and the wood splinters. I was only able to use the one I had until I sparpened it because the pencil and wood kept breaking so I threw it away."

I am sorry you cannot advance the tip, it is a sharpening pencil. We do recommend the CoverGirl 3 in 1 Sharpener however, any sharpener can be used. Hope this helps.

"I love this eyeliner until I used up the whole tip, thinking I could advance it up again with a twist. I'm glad to hear that it needs sharpened and not trashed, but now how do I do that since I used the whole tip up??? Please let me know Covergirl!"

"I personally love this eyeliner. Though, I do agree it is hard to sharpen, I thought I'd share a tip for people. Try putting the eyeliner in the freezer for 5-10 minutes (or longer if needed), and THEN try sharpening it. Hope this helps for some :)"

"The pigmentation is good; I have several shades and while the color is nice and bold, the lasting power is abysmal. Application is challenging at best - the tip is so soft it's impossible to get a clean line. NOT Waterproof. Sharpens poorly."

"I bought this eyeliner because the store wasn't carrying the usual mechenical covergirl eyeliner that I buy. I tried sharpening it (like other pencil eyeliners I use), but I can't get it to a point. I think I will have to switch brands"

"Bought 2 - appear adjustable, but not - could not sharpen w/ sharpener I own. Huge waste of $$ and now I have to purchase another sharpener!! Package info not clear and most won't keep package. Build in sharpener/better info on the sharpener needed."

"absolutely love this eyeliner! I have never been able to find an eyeliner that stays on ALL day and doesn't need touched up. the only thing that I can find wrong with it is that it isn't mechanical."

"I AODRE this product, but wish it were not such a waste of money. Sharpening it causes breakage and doesn't leave a clean tip. Seriously? You can't make this mechanical? And NO- I will not buy a "special sharpener" just for this product."

"After running out of a department store brand, I was looking for a replacement at an affordable price. Brown blaze is a pretty color-goes on great-no pulling or dragging like a pencil. It doesn't smear. Please don't stop making this product!"

"I also thought it was a twist-up. I even read the back before trying it - it doesn't talk about sharpening it. It LOOKS like a twist-up! Liner glides on smoothly but gives you a kohl look. Now that I know it lasts more than 10 days - love it!"

"I love this eye liner. It goes on dark and smooth and doesn't come off throughout the day. I had trouble figuring out that you are supposed to sharpen it. I would've given this product 5 stars if it was a self sharpener. Still love the look!"

"I realized, like the others here, that it needed to be sharpened. I used a sharpener I already had (recommended here also). The end just broke off time after time and wouldn't sharpen. Really liked it at first. Maybe the freezer trick will work."

"The first time I tried it, I was so surprised. It is so pigmented and smooth. It glides right on, and doesn't tug. I have to admit, I really like this eyeliner. And for 8 bucks, it's really not that bad at all. I strongly recommend it. ;D"
